Firefighters in Hostěradice to Host Wine and Homemade Pastry Festival

The volunteer fire brigade of Hostěradice, a village in the South Moravian Region, will hold the settlement's first-ever food festival this September, called "Festival Doброt s Hasiči" — a celebration of homemade food, local wine and good company.

The organisers joke that firefighters usually rush to where there's a fire, but this time they'll come to residents and guests with tables already laid, because hunger and thirst are the sworn enemies of a good mood.

At the festival, local winemakers will bring out bottles from their cellars — according to the organisers, guests can look forward to "genuine liquid grape happiness" straight from the region. Home cooks will prepare sweet and savoury pastries, while live music and get-togethers with friends and neighbours will set the festive mood.

As the day's jokey firefighting saying goes: "Whoever eats well and drinks wine will live to a hundred in Hostěradice." The organisers promise that festival guests will arrive hungry and leave satisfied — with a smile from ear to ear.
