Czechia has 13 public holidays in 2027, but only 9 fall on weekdays. May 1, May 8, December 25 and December 26 land on a weekend, and Czech law does not move holidays to a weekday, so 2027 has four fewer days off than 2026. The longest breaks are Easter (March 26–29) and July 3–6.
Around Prague checked all 2027 dates against Act No. 245/2000 Coll. on public holidays and Act No. 223/2016 Coll. on shop opening hours on 21 October 2026.
Each date is a paid day off (den pracovního klidu). Banks and government offices are closed, and public transport runs on a Sunday schedule.

"Large shops" means stores with more than 200 m² of sales space. Small shops, petrol stations, pharmacies and shops at airports and train stations may stay open on every holiday.
May is the weak spot of 2027: both May 1 and May 8 are Saturdays, so there are no extra days off that month.
Czech law does not compensate holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday: there is no "substitute day" as in the UK or the US. In 2026, 11 of the 13 holidays were on weekdays; in 2027 it is only 9. If you work Monday to Friday, you get four fewer paid days off in 2027 than in 2026.
13, of which 9 fall on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and 4 on weekends.
Easter Sunday is March 28, 2027. The days off are Good Friday, March 26, and Easter Monday, March 29.
No. Czech law has no substitute days, so May 1, May 8, December 25 and December 26, 2027 are simply lost.
Large shops close at 12:00 on December 24 and stay closed on December 25 and 26. Small shops and petrol stations may be open.
January 1, March 29, May 8, September 28, October 28, December 25 and December 26, plus the afternoon of December 24.
