OAMP application deadlines: how to check status and what to do after 60 days

You submitted your application, and it's been over a month with no decision. The law gives the office 60 days — and once that deadline passes, you gain the right to demand action. Here's how to track your case and what to do once the deadline has passed.

How long the office takes to review an application

The general deadline is 60 days from the date of submission. It's set by the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals and applies to most applications: extending long-term residence, changing the purpose of stay, family reunification. The deadline differs for certain types of cases, but 60 days is the benchmark to count from.

The clock starts on the day you submit the application, not the day you're seen at an appointment. If the office requests additional documents, the deadline is paused until you respond — that's the only lawful way to extend it.

How to check your case status

The official check works on the Ministry of Interior's portal for foreign nationals. You'll need your case number — it's printed on your submission confirmation and looks something like this: OAM-12345-XX/DP-2026.

You can check it here: Stav řízení on the Ministry of Interior portal. You don't need to log into an account — just enter your case number or visa application number.

The portal shows which stage your case is at: received, under review, decision issued. It doesn't show the decision date in advance, so the point of checking regularly is to spot movement, not to guess the deadline.

Leave us the date you submitted your application — we'll count 60 days and email you on day 30, day 55 and day 60. A case number isn't required; it just helps you recognize your application in the email.
We only store your email, the date and the case number. You can unsubscribe from any email.

What to do if 60 days have passed

Silence from the office after the deadline has passed counts as inaction, and there's a remedy for it. You're entitled to file a complaint against inaction (žádost o uplatnění opatření proti nečinnosti) with the superior body — the Commission for the Residence of Foreign Nationals.

What's important to know:

If your case is complicated or your visa deadline is at stake, it's wiser not to wait and to turn to people who handle these cases regularly.

How not to miss the deadline

The most common mistake is forgetting exactly when you submitted. After two months the date fades from memory, and without it there's no way to tell whether you've gained the right to demand action. Set a reminder using the form above — we'll count the deadline and email you when it's coming up.

Second, keep your case number and submission confirmation on hand. Without them you can't check the status or file a complaint.
