A crash involving an ambulance and a passenger car has occurred in the Jihlava Region — the ambulance flipped onto its side after the collision, while the car ran off the road. Three people were injured as a result, police spokeswoman Dana Čírtková reported.
According to her, the accident was reported at 2:40 p.m. The road was left impassable, and all units of the integrated rescue system were sent to the scene. Traffic was partially restored from around 3:30 p.m., with vehicles allowed through one at a time in a single lane.
At the moment of the crash, the ambulance was on its way back to the hospital with a patient on board. According to Petr Janáček, a spokesman for the emergency medical service, three ground crews and a rescue helicopter from Jihlava were dispatched to the scene. Paramedics treated all three people injured in the wrecked ambulance.
The patient and the ambulance driver, both with minor injuries, were taken to the hospital in Jihlava. The paramedic who was accompanying the patient suffered moderate injuries and was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Brno. The driver of the car involved in the collision was unharmed.
