Bohemians and Hradec Králové Play Out Goalless Draw at Prague

In a Round 2 fixture of the Czech Chance Liga, Prague's Bohemians 1905 and Hradec Králové played to a scoreless 0:0 draw at the Dolíček stadium. The match drew a crowd of 6,162.

Visiting coach David Horejš made three changes to his starting lineup compared to Thursday's victorious second-leg Europa League qualifier against Tromsø. Midfielder Valenta, who joined from Plzeň this week, started from the first minute, alongside fellow midfielder Kvet, a new signing for the club, for whom this was his 150th appearance in the Czech top flight.

The first half belonged to the home side. In the 9th minute, visiting goalkeeper Zadražil was forced into a difficult save by a well-placed effort from Almási, and shortly afterward a header from Liška came back off the crossbar. In the 37th minute, Mirvald tested the away keeper with a powerful strike.

After the break, Hradec Králové seized the initiative. In the 51st minute, the visitors nearly took the lead following an error by the home goalkeeper: Frühwald mishandled the ball during a routine claim, allowing Horák to pounce and fire from a tight angle — his shot struck the post.

Although the season has only just begun, the Dolíček pitch was already heavy, hampering both sides' attacking efforts. The scoreless deadlock held even after substitute Van Buren came on in the 70th minute, only to be denied by home keeper Frühwald. Zadražil also shone at the other end, parrying a deflected long-range effort from Smrž and another dangerous header from Liška.

The closing stages were fiercely contested but produced few clear-cut chances. Only in the 87th minute did visiting captain Darida test Frühwald with a long-range effort, which the goalkeeper saved. This marked the first goalless draw at the "Kangaroos'" stadium this season. Hradec Králové have now taken points from seven of their last eight top-flight meetings with Bohemians, yet have failed to beat them in three consecutive encounters.

Bohemians head coach Jaroslav Veselý commented: "We got back to what should define us — compactness, organisation, and proper positioning both with and without the ball. Our first half was the better one, and we had chances to score. After the break, Hradec made some adjustments, and their substitutes made a difference. We'll take this point as a kind of redemption for last week. We need to be sharper in the final third."

Visiting coach David Horejš admitted: "We played two completely different halves. The start wasn't our best — we were losing our duels and couldn't get our game going, and our build-up play suffered. The second half was much more under our control. We created two clear scoring chances, and if we want to fight for a better result, we need to be taking those. We have to accept the point — Bohemians were the stronger side in the first half, so the draw was fair."
