14-Year-Old Clocks 193 km/h in Father

Police in the Hradec Králové Region pulled over an Audi driven by a 14-year-old boy who had been speeding at 193 km/h, according to police spokeswoman Andrea Musikantová.

The boy had no driver's licence — and couldn't have one, given his age. A breath and drug test came back negative. He told officers the car belonged to his father.

Father admits responsibility

The boy's father arrived at the scene and confirmed that he had indeed lent his son the car, but only to drive on private property. Police issued an on-the-spot fine through summary proceedings, penalising the father as the vehicle's owner for letting someone without a driving licence get behind the wheel.

The case against the teenager himself will be dropped due to his age, but the child welfare authorities will be notified of his unlawful conduct so they can take further action if needed.

A warning to parents

"Parents and legal guardians need to understand that letting someone without a driver's licence take the wheel isn't just against the law — above all, it puts lives at risk. Driving requires knowledge, experience, responsibility and the ability to react correctly in critical situations. This boy clearly had none of that, especially at a speed of nearly 200 km/h," warned spokeswoman Musikantová.
