At a school in the Michalovce district of eastern Slovakia, an 18-year-old student armed with a knife threatened to kill a teacher. Prosecutor General Maroš Žilinka reported the incident on social media.
The suspect, identified only by the initials M. L., is accused by police of “dangerous threats made with a weapon”. A prosecutor at the Michalovce district prosecutor’s office has already asked the local court to remand the young man in custody. The court has not yet ruled.
Žilinka noted that such cases are becoming more frequent: “Law enforcement will respond to them uncompromisingly.” Two days ago he said the police and a prosecutor had made a mistake after a recent incident in the village of Čeľovce in the south of the country: an 18-year-old man with an axe threatened a schoolchild outside a primary school, but criminal proceedings were not opened in time.
