On Sunday night, police were dispatched to Jílové in the Děčín district, where a violent crime had taken place. Officers later began pursuing a driver connected to the case, and on the D8 motorway ahead of Prague he crashed into a truck at high speed, police spokeswoman Veronika Hyšplerová told Novinky.
The man, with very serious injuries, was taken to Královské Vinohrady Hospital in Prague, said ambulance service spokesman Prokop Volenik. Neither police nor paramedics specified exactly where the crash happened: police said only that it was before Prague, while according to Volenik it was roughly on the border of the Central Bohemian and Ústí regions, where paramedics from the Ústí region responded.
Investigators are still examining the circumstances of both the crime itself and the crash that followed. “We will not be providing any more information on the case for now,” the spokeswoman added.
