Illegal tuning meet in Prague and Brno ends in 3 million korunas in fines and 70 licenses seized

Over the past weekend, Prague and Brno hosted an illegal tuning-car meet called Europe Illegal Season End 2026, and Czech police deployed 650 patrols to keep watch over it: according to police figures, drivers were fined for speeding to the tune of almost 3 million korunas, and more than 70 people had their licenses seized.

A nationwide crackdown

The meet took place on Friday, October 2, in Prague, after which participants moved on to Brno on Saturday, October 3. To keep the roads under control, police put together a whole package of security measures and worked together with the Customs Administration and foreign police services. The operation involved traffic and foreign-police patrols, a helicopter fitted with a thermal-imaging camera, drones and public-order units.

In total, inspectors checked almost 17,000 cars and more than 32,000 people across the whole of Czechia.

Speeding fines and faulty cars

The most common violation police recorded was speeding — 1,565 cases, for which drivers were fined a total of 2.93 million korunas. In Brno alone, police collected 200,000 korunas in fines.

The second most frequent violation was poor technical condition: four cars were in such bad shape that they were sent for inspection and subsequently declared technically unroadworthy.

Drunk drivers and confiscated licenses

The meet wasn't free of alcohol and drugs either. According to police presidium spokesperson Violeta Kanoski, 51 drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, while another 15 people got behind the wheel after using drugs.

Police seized more than 70 driver's licenses, 23 of them specifically for speeding. Another 30 people were stopped while driving without a license at all. In a number of cases offenders had their license plates taken away, and four cars were towed away.
