On Thursday around nine in the morning, inside a Polish primary school, a 15-year-old boy attacked the school caretaker with a knife, and the man died. The attacker then wounded the principal and one of the teachers who tried to disarm him. Police detained the teenager, Polish media report.
The motive for the attack remains unclear. Because the detainee is a minor, his fate will be decided by a family court.
The attack came just a day after another incident: at a vocational school in Ostrołęka, Poland, a 19-year-old student wounded nine people with a machete and then injured himself. A homemade explosive device was found in his backpack and nearly went off. According to prosecutors, when smoke began coming out of the backpack, classmates threw it out of the window.
On Wednesday, in the town of Sierpc, police detained a 17-year-old who was found with two knives. Media reports say he had earlier contacted a local school and said he intended to hurt someone.
