On Sunday morning, Central European time, users began flooding social media with complaints about disruptions to Facebook and Instagram, according to DownDetector, a portal that tracks such outages. The disruption affected only the desktop web versions of the services, while the mobile apps continued to function normally.

The platforms were back up and running before midday. However, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the outage, so the exact cause of the problem remains unclear.

It is also still unknown whether the outage affected all users of the social networks or only a portion of them.
