Homeless Woman Terrorizes Hospital and Public Transport in Jihlava Despite Ban on Entering the City

In the Czech city of Jihlava, a homeless woman named Gabinka, originally from the Plzeň Region, has repeatedly caused disturbances at the local hospital and on public transport — despite a court order banning her from the district. This was confirmed by hospital spokeswoman Monika Zahrlová.

A video filmed in May and later shared online shows the heavily made-up woman hurling crude insults at the head nurse of the oncology ward and threatening her with physical violence. According to the hospital's spokeswoman, problems with the woman began escalating in spring, and since early July the hospital has had to beef up its security service.

Attacks on patients and staff

The hospital says the woman's record already includes an assault on a nurse, vandalizing and fouling restrooms, and verbally abusing cancer patients over their wigs. On one occasion, she had to be removed from the hospital six times in a single Saturday — she reportedly favors crowded places where it's easier to blend in and avoid being caught.

A brawl on a trolleybus and a criminal case

The hospital isn't the only place where the woman causes trouble. According to police, an incident occurred on public transport on July 29: on trolleybus route A, between the stops Náměstí Svobody and Masarykovo náměstí, she approached a female passenger, began shouting obscenities at her, and then punched her in the thigh. The victim suffered a bruise and was left in shock, said police spokeswoman Dana Čírtková.

Police say the woman has repeatedly broken the law in Jihlava. As early as July 7, the district court sentenced her to a two-month suspended sentence with an 18-month probation period for disorderly conduct, and banned her from the Jihlava district for three years — a ban that took effect on July 23. Following the trolleybus incident, simplified pre-trial proceedings were opened, and she has been charged with disorderly conduct and failure to comply with an official ruling.

Arrest possible

Since the woman keeps ignoring the court's ban, police may petition the prosecutor to have her taken into custody. If the prosecutor backs the request, the case will go back to court, which will then decide whether to remand her in custody — though no such request has been filed yet, Čírtková clarified on Monday.

Social media users note that the woman has also been spotted from time to time in Třebíč. Many believe that, rather than punishment, she needs medical and psychological help.
