Following a change of government in Hungary, authorities have begun reviewing state subsidies handed out during the premiership of Viktor Orban. Particular scrutiny has fallen on two companies with Czech ties: a Hungarian firm belonging to the Agrofert group, owned by former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, and Colt CZ Hungary — a joint venture between the Czech arms manufacturer controlled by businessman René Holeček and the Hungarian state. No formal investigation into either company has been opened yet, but both have already caught the attention of journalists and Transparency International.
