Illegal Migrant Beats Random Passer-by into Coma in Valencia

In the Spanish city of Valencia, an illegal migrant from Algeria brutally beat a random passer-by, who is now in critical condition in hospital. The attack took place on Friday evening in the San Marcelino neighbourhood, according to the regional newspaper Las Provincias.

According to the outlet, the 47-year-old victim suffered severe head injuries and multiple fractures after the attacker repeatedly struck him with fists and kicks to the head.

The suspect was identified as a 26-year-old Algerian native named Said L., who reportedly has an extensive criminal record. The man was in Spain illegally and had no documents on him at the time of his arrest — he had been living in a makeshift shelter near the Cruz Cubierta area of Valencia.

The victim and the attacker had never met before, and there was no prior conflict between them. According to the newspaper, the incident began when several local residents told the man off for his disruptive behaviour. The attacker then turned on a random, entirely innocent passer-by named Arturo — who had his arm in a cast and was unable to defend himself effectively.

The attacker first kicked the man in the leg, after which the assault quickly escalated into a brutal beating. After several blows, the victim fell to the ground. According to eyewitness accounts captured on video, the attacker continued kicking the unconscious man in the head as he lay on the ground, until bystanders could no longer watch. Those nearby were unable to stop the attack.

Several witnesses tried to intervene and stop the attacker; some of them were themselves struck and threatened. According to their accounts, the attacker shouted: "Get out of here, or you'll end up like him."

The victim is currently in intensive care with extremely serious injuries. The detained man has been remanded in custody and charged with attempted murder.
