In the town of Krnov in northern Moravia, a large dog savagely attacked its elderly owner. The incident took place on Saturday at around four in the morning, prompting police and municipal guards to rush to the scene.
According to police spokesman Jan Sedsulka, the pensioner was attacked by his own large-breed dog. Despite suffering severe injuries, the man managed to shut the animal in the garden and make his way back into the house, where he was able to get help.
Police officers administered first aid to the victim before rescue workers arrived to take over. Lukáš Humpl, a spokesman for the Moravian-Silesian Region's rescue service, said the man sustained very serious injuries to his upper limbs. After being treated at the scene, he was taken to the emergency department of a university hospital, where he was placed on a ventilator in critical condition.
While police tended to the injured man, the aggressive dog was kept under control before being caught by municipal guard officers. What triggered the dog's attack on its owner has not yet been established — police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
