"Insectivore Weekend" at Prague Zoo: Cricket Tastings and Aardvark Feedings

This coming Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 July, Prague Zoo (Zoo Praha) will hold its popular "Insectivore Weekend." Alongside themed animal feedings, visitors can enjoy free tastings of insect-based dishes, commentated cooking demonstrations, and a display of farm-raised insects. There will also be competition zones for kids. The first hundred visitors who buy their ticket at the main box office each day will receive a bonus — a packet of flavoured crickets.

What's on the menu

Insect delicacies will be served near the Vzdělávací centrum (Education Centre) from 10:00 to 16:00. On the menu:

Visitors will also learn how Brazilian mealworm beetles, Argentine cockroaches, and so-called mealworms are raised and prepared. Packaged insect-based products will be available for purchase on site as well.

Feedings across the zoo

All weekend long, the zoo's own insect-eating residents will have a special menu too — commentated feedings are held throughout the grounds:

The full programme is available on the zoo's website, zoopraha.cz. Address: U Trojského zámku 3/120, Prague.
