The Czech State Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority has published photos on social media taken inside the kitchen of a hotel in the Jindřichův Hradec region, where inspectors uncovered serious breaches of hygiene rules during a check.
"The state of the kitchen at the time of the inspection made it clear that regular cleaning had been neglected," the authority said. According to inspectors, the entire space was heavily soiled — including the stove, deep fryer, sink, dishes and floor, all covered in grease and food residue.
Inspectors also found that no proper system was in place for removing food waste, which had accumulated both in the kitchen and in the room housing the ventilation equipment.
"Our inspectors found unsuitable conditions for food preparation in the kitchen, including significant contamination of the premises and a lack of cleaning. As a result, we imposed a partial ban on the use of the kitchen for food preparation," the authority stated, adding that the establishment as a whole was not shut down.
According to the Potraviny na pranýři portal, the ban was short-lived: it took effect on Monday and was already lifted by Tuesday.
