Kutná Hora begins major overhaul of the Vrchlice riverbed

The town of Kutná Hora is launching a large-scale project to reinforce and redevelop the banks of the Vrchlice River — the works will affect around 25 households living in the area of Pobřežní Street.

According to the town council, both the street itself and the houses along it need to be reinforced. As town representative Seifert explained, Pobřežní Street is currently in a dangerous, dilapidated state, meaning reinforcement work would have been necessary even without the river reconstruction subsidy.

Since the town does not own most of the land involved, preparing the project required negotiating and signing numerous agreements with private landowners.

The Vrchlice River rises near the village of Štiplokazy, flows through Kutná Hora, and joins the Klejnárka River near Nové Dvory. The town previously repaired a retaining wall along the Vrchlice that had been damaged by flooding.
