A motorcyclist has died in the Šumava region after losing control on a bend, veering off the road and crashing into a tree. The accident happened on the road between the villages of Filipova Huť and Horská Kvilda. Police say the exact cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
The man suffered severe injuries that led to cardiac arrest, said rescue service spokesman Martin Štěpán. Paramedics immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts and, together with an air ambulance crew, did everything possible to save his life. Despite their efforts, they were unable to revive him, and he died at the scene.
Police have ordered a forensic medical examination and are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident. According to police spokeswoman Hana Kroftová, the motorcyclist, for reasons still unknown, failed to negotiate the bend, left the roadway and hit a tree.
Police and road safety experts are once again reminding the public that motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable road users. Riders are urged to choose a speed appropriate to road conditions, anticipate potential hazards in advance, and keep in mind that other drivers may not notice them. Motorists, in turn, are being called on to pay closer attention and show more consideration toward motorcyclists.
