Pilsen man attacks pensioner with a walker and steals his wallet — victim chases him down by car

In Pilsen, a man attacked an 85-year-old pensioner who was walking with a walking frame in a car park on Kotíkovská Street and stole his wallet. The incident took place last Thursday at around 7 p.m., according to police spokeswoman Michaela Reindlová.

She said the attacker approached the elderly man from behind as he was making his way to his Citroën and shoved him, causing him to fall. The assailant then pulled a wallet containing 1,200 crowns and personal documents from the man's back trouser pocket and fled the scene.

Pensioner chased the robber down by car

Despite the attack, the victim got up, got into his car and caught up with the attacker. He asked the man to at least give back his documents, but got no response at first. After a while, the attacker took out the stolen money and the wallet with the documents and tossed them to the pensioner through the car's open window.

Suspect detained the next day

Police launched an investigation and put out a search for the suspect. He was detained the very next day and charged with robbery. At the prosecutor's request, the court remanded him in custody. According to the police spokeswoman, if found guilty, the accused faces up to ten years in prison. The investigation is ongoing, and police have appealed to any potential witnesses of the incident to call the emergency line or contact the nearest police station.
