A police drone captured widespread rule-breaking at an intersection near the village of Otnice in the Vyškov region: drivers of cars, vans, a truck, and even cyclists ignored the Stop sign on road 418, with some failing to slow down even in front of a large "STOP" marking painted on the asphalt.
According to police, failing to yield the right of way is one of the most dangerous situations on the road. It was precisely this that led to the death of a Škoda driver in a crash near Branišovice in the Brno region on Wednesday — the sixth road fatality in South Moravia this summer. On Saturday, two more people were killed in a separate accident on the D52 motorway near Pohořelice.
Police officers stress that serious accidents are often caused not only by traffic violations but also by driver fatigue and inattention. "Only the driver can manage their own fatigue. The current hot weather adds an extra strain, so it's important to prevent exhaustion, take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and not overestimate your abilities behind the wheel," said police spokesman David Chaloupka.
