Prague police search for escaped inmate with tattoos and a trash bin in tow

Prague police have launched a search for an inmate who escaped on Thursday from a cleanup site on Legerova Street in Prague 2. According to police spokesman Jan Daněk, a driver was due to pick the man up around 3:00 p.m. to take him back to prison, but when he arrived at the agreed spot, the inmate was nowhere to be found.

The man in question is 39-year-old Roman Hrdlička, who was carrying out cleaning duties at the address at the time of his escape. Police have not disclosed what crime he was convicted of or the length of his sentence.

Description of the wanted man

According to police, the man is roughly 175 cm tall, with blue eyes, blond hair and a long beard. He was wearing a grey T-shirt, black work trousers and a reflective vest at the time of his escape.

One particular detail could help identify him: he is likely still carrying a trash bin, a shovel and a broom — the cleaning equipment he was using at the time. The man also has tattoos on his arms and left leg.

Police are asking anyone with information about the fugitive's whereabouts, or who has noticed anything suspicious, to call the 158 hotline.
