Prague will host a series of creative workshops dedicated to comic-book making, led by artist Markéta Černá, co-author of the comic Mezita. Participants will work on drawing, storytelling and character creation.
The sessions will cover all the basic elements of comic art — from speech "bubbles" to full character design, including how to build a character, shape their personality, and convey emotion through facial expressions and mood. Special attention will be given to how different drawing techniques and tools can change the final result.
The workshop programme includes several key topics: the different types of speech bubbles and how their shape and lines convey meaning; characters and their defining traits — facial expressions and body language; storyboarding techniques and how to arrange panels on a page; and creating your own short comic story.
Participants will experiment, discover what interests them most, and get a taste of what it's like to be a real comic-book author.
The workshop is designed for children aged 10 and up, as well as adults. Advance registration is required — by email at [email protected] or by phone at +420 770 130 258.
