This morning in Prague, near Ruzyně airport, a Fabia left the road and crashed into the concrete fence surrounding the airfield. The woman driving, who was trapped inside the car, was freed by firefighters and flown to hospital by helicopter.
The accident happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. on K Letišti street. The woman was driving from the old airport terminal toward Aviatická street. On a left-hand bend, for a reason that is not yet known, she veered off the road to the left and hit the concrete wall head-on. The impact damaged the wall, and part of it collapsed.
According to fire service spokesman Vojtěch Beneš, firefighters pulled the woman out of the car and handed her over to medics. Paramedics called not only a ground crew but also a helicopter, which took the injured woman to the Central Military Hospital in Střešovice. Police are investigating the cause of the crash, and K Letišti street was closed for about three-quarters of an hour.
