Russia strikes Turkish-owned cargo ship in the Black Sea

Ukraine's naval forces said on Facebook that Russian troops attacked a cargo ship owned by a Turkish company but sailing under the flag of Guinea-Bissau, in West Africa.

According to the Ukrainian navy, the vessel was hit by three missiles just as it was leaving the combat zone. A fire broke out on board following the strike.

Ukraine is now in its fifth year of fending off Russia's full-scale military aggression, with fighting taking place not only on land but also at sea, where both military and civilian vessels have come under fire.

Reports indicate that Russian forces have been targeting, among other things, grain-carrying vessels, while Ukrainian forces are focused mainly on curbing exports of Russian oil — the very revenue Moscow relies on to fund the war.
