Slavia Thrash Baník 4:0 as Sadílek Shines with a Goal and Two Assists

Slavia claimed a commanding 4:0 away win over Baník in the second round of the Czech top flight, with midfielder Michal Sadílek stealing the show — contributing a goal and two assists.

Set pieces decided the outcome. As early as the 3rd minute, Sadílek delivered a corner for Novák to head home — the Polish midfielder's third goal in just his second match for the Prague club. On 14 minutes, Sadílek was once again precise from a corner, this time finding Czech international Zima, who doubled the lead to 2:0 with a header. It was the Slavia man's second goal in as many matches.

Baník tried to hit back from a corner of their own, but Gning's close-range header flew wide of the far post. The hosts simply couldn't turn the game around: after a swift move down the left flank, Sadílek himself finished off a low cross at the near post to make it 3:0. The goal was initially ruled out for offside but stood after a VAR review — it was Sadílek's first league goal since February. Just before the break, Baník had a chance to pull one back, but Michel's effort was saved by Slavia goalkeeper Marković.

Baník coach Roman Skuhravý made three substitutions at half-time, but the changes did little to alter the pattern of play, even if Kubala, Musak and Gilbert added some life to the home side's attacks. Kubala came close to reducing the deficit in the 66th minute, pouncing on a loose pass from Marković, only to crash his shot against the crossbar.

Slavia eased off in the second half, allowing Baník to dominate territorially. Substitute Ayaosi failed to convert a counter-attack, firing wide of goal. Late on, Novák found the target but saw his effort come back off the bar. In stoppage time, however, Baník's defence switched off once again, and the same Ayaosi lobbed goalkeeper Jedlička to make it a final 4:0 — his first goal for Slavia in an official match.

According to match statistics, the Prague club have now gone seven consecutive meetings with Baník without conceding a goal. The match drew 12,027 spectators.
