South Bohemian Prosecutor to Stand Trial for Abusing His Own Children

The District Court in České Budějovice has received an indictment against a South Bohemian state prosecutor suspected of abusing his own children. According to court spokeswoman Petra Holíková, the case was forwarded by the Klatovy district prosecutor's office, and the assigned judge has already reviewed it along with the criminal case files.

Details of the charges and the further course of the proceedings have not yet been disclosed. "The parties concerned must first be informed of this information, and only then can the court make it public," Holíková explained.

Years of humiliation and beatings

Police charged the prosecutor last March with abuse of a person in his care, as well as endangering the moral upbringing of minors and disorderly conduct. The editorial team knows the accused's name and workplace, but due to legal protections for the victims — who are his own children — this information is not being disclosed.

According to investigators, the abuse of the boys had been going on since 2020. Investigators claim the man would shout at the children and humiliate them with crude and obscene language almost daily, over trivial matters and without any real reason — calling them "brat," "scumbag," "idiot," "moron." "He also used physical force without justification — repeatedly hitting them with an open palm on the head, face and buttocks. He would also pull the children by their ears," the resolution to open the criminal case states.

According to the investigation, the children were only 3 and 5 years old when the first episodes of violence allegedly began.

A beating out on the street

Matters came to a head last November: according to the prosecution, the man kicked and struck his ten-year-old son in the face right on a street in České Budějovice, then dragged him along the ground until bystanders intervened.

The boy had to be taken away by ambulance. Fortunately, no serious physical injuries were found, but according to his treating physician, the boy developed post-traumatic stress disorder and required psychiatric care.

Back in May last year, the accused prosecutor was suspended from his post by then-Justice Minister Pavel Blažek. Since then, the man has been barred from working and remains at home on half salary — a measure that will stay in place until the case is finally resolved.
