Czech footballer Ondřej Lingr suffered a serious facial injury in a Polish league match: in the 26th minute of the game against Lech he collided with an opponent and was taken to hospital. The coach of his team, Korona, fears a broken jaw.
It was a bad game for Korona: the ninth-placed team in the Polish league lost 6-1 to the favorites. But after the incident involving Lingr, the score faded into the background.
The Czech winger was receiving the ball, which bounced slightly away, and he collided hard with Lech midfielder Radosław Murawski. Lingr fell to the pitch, and Murawski immediately signaled that urgent medical help was needed. Replays showed that, through an unfortunate coincidence, he caught his opponent's jaw with his shoulder.
Lech forward Mikael Ishak waved his arms and called for the medics. His teammate Pablo Rodríguez helped two paramedics carry bags of medical equipment. Lingr was immediately carried to an ambulance and taken to hospital.
Korona coach Jacek Zieliński described the player's condition: “He was choking on his own blood, it looks like a broken jaw. In my opinion, the autumn part of the season is over for him. It all looks very bad. It is being decided now whether he will be operated on right away or whether he can be taken home. We are waiting for news, but it is serious.”
Lingr was part of the Czech national team's latest training camp under new head coach Santi Denia. He is unlikely to make the squad for the November Nations League matches. The main thing now is the player's health.
