In the Chomutov region of Czechia, a car crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a bus. All three occupants of the car died in the crash, according to Patrik Kristián Cmorej, spokesperson for the Ústí nad Labem region's emergency medical service.
Police say the accident occurred at around 6 p.m. on Road No. 224 between the villages of Pětipsy and Rokle. “The car crossed into the opposite lane, where it collided with a bus that had no one on board apart from the driver,” said police spokeswoman Miroslava Hloogovská. The circumstances and cause of the tragedy have not yet been established, and an investigation is still underway at the scene.
According to Lukáš Fajak, spokesman for the regional fire brigade, the bus was travelling without passengers at the time of the collision, and the driver suffered only minor abrasions.
Several fire brigade units are currently working at the scene. Road II/224 is completely closed in both directions, with traffic being diverted through the village of Poláky. “Firefighters are working at the scene to evacuate the injured and secure the area of the incident. The road will remain fully closed for an extended period,” the Ústí nad Labem fire brigade reported. Units from Žatec and Podbořany, along with volunteer fire brigades from Radonice and Pětipsy, are taking part in the response.
