Ukraine Strikes Russia's Krasnodar Region: Massive Drone Attack on Novorossiysk Kills a Child

Ukraine Strikes Russia

Overnight, Ukrainian drones carried out a massive attack on Russia's Krasnodar region, including the port city of Novorossiysk. According to the Telegram channel "Crimean Wind," a fire broke out at an oil terminal in the city, and flames also engulfed part of the military port where ships and submarines of the Black Sea Fleet are based.

The Exilenova+ channel reports that Ukrainian drones also struck a grain terminal used to load Russian grain onto vessels for export.

Governor's Response

Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed the attack. "Krasnodar region spent the entire night fending off a massive assault by several hundred Ukrainian armed forces drones," he wrote on Telegram. According to him, in addition to Novorossiysk, strikes also hit Anapa, Gelendzhik and Temryuk.

In Novorossiysk alone, the governor said, 21 residential buildings and four enterprises were damaged. "Crimean Wind" also reported drone hits on administrative buildings in the city.

Child Killed, Others Injured

"An eight-year-old child was killed in Novorossiysk. Eight people were injured, including one child. The injured have been hospitalized," Kondratyev said. One person was reported injured in the Temryuk district, and two each in Anapa and Gelendzhik.

According to The Moscow Times, Ukrainian forces also targeted Sevastopol on the occupied Crimean peninsula. Russian-appointed city head Mikhail Razvozhaev said the air defense system shot down more than 30 drones over Sevastopol.

Ukraine, in the midst of repelling Russia's invasion, is using such strikes to weaken the aggressor's military and economic potential by targeting infrastructure tied to the fleet and resource exports.
