Russia is ready to resume three-way talks with Ukraine and the US after Nov. 4. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said so, as quoted by the TASS news agency.
“The next date now is Nov. 4, our big holiday. After that, we will be ready to resume the talks,” TASS quoted Ushakov as saying. On that day Russians celebrate National Unity Day, marking events of 1612, when a people’s militia led by Kuzma Minin and Prince Dmitry Pozharsky drove the Polish-Lithuanian occupying forces out of Moscow.
It is also the day on which the US midterm elections to Congress conclude: because of the time difference, the first results will arrive overnight into Nov. 4 Central European Time.
Talks between Russia, Ukraine and the US froze after the US, together with Israel, attacked Iran at the end of February. The last such meeting took place in mid-February in Geneva, and the delegations have not met since. According to Reuters, the sides could meet in Abu Dhabi in November.
