On the night of 6 October 2026, Ukrainian drones carried out a massive strike on Moscow region. According to regional governor Andrei Vorobyov, two people were killed, at least six were injured, residential buildings were damaged and a warehouse belonging to one of the retail chains caught fire.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported a powerful attack but, as is typical for Russian officials, did not mention a single hit — according to him, rescuers spent the night dealing only with the debris of downed drones.
It was Vorobyov who gave the real picture of the damage. He named the dead as a twenty-year-old man from the village of Radumlya and a 71-year-old man from Barybino. The governor also reported damaged houses, blown-out windows and a fire at a warehouse belonging to one of the retail chains, which he did not name.
According to the Telegram channel Exilenova Plus, one of the Ukrainian drones hit the Volodarskaya oil receiving and distribution centre near the village of Konstantinovo. Russian military bloggers also reported a fire at the Volodarskaya production and dispatching station near the village of the same name — one of the region's largest oil storage and dispatching hubs for pumping petroleum products.
Because of the attack, Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency restricted operations overnight at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Zhukovsky airports. Around five o'clock in the morning Moscow time, the agency said flights at the airports had returned to normal.
