According to a journalist, Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner was caught in wiretaps of Russian military intelligence (GRU), which were themselves being monitored by Dutch intelligence services. As a result, the publication says, the Dutch learned of accounts to which Kushner had access. He calls the allegations false.
The claim comes from journalist Matthew Cole, citing sources, in his new book “Princes and Thieves: Jared Kushner and Mohammed bin Zayed's Secret Plan to Remake the Middle East”. Cole published an excerpt in Vanity Fair.
According to the magazine, intelligence officers found that Kushner had access to a bank account linked to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), into which hundreds of millions of dollars were transferred from a bank in Azerbaijan. Around $750 million (more than CZK 16.3 billion) ended up in an account at First Abu Dhabi Bank held by the Watani Al Emarat Foundation, a charity funded by the UAE authorities.
Kushner, Cole says, was authorized to manage the account, although he was not its owner. The account was meant to serve as a fund for foreign policy. Cole also claims the organization was used to support the UAE's foreign military and intelligence operations.
The journalist adds that there was another account in Israel, to which about a billion dollars (roughly CZK 21.75 billion) was transferred for Kushner's personal benefit. According to Cole, the transfer was arranged by UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu persuaded Kushner to leave the money in Israel.
Cole says Kushner communicated with Netanyahu through US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, who denies any involvement.
On the social network X, Kushner wrote that the article containing the excerpt from Cole's book “contains outrageous and categorically false allegations”.
