Eight-year-old girl injured by animal at wildlife park in Germany

Wild animal attacks eight-year-old girl at animal park in Germany

A wild animal has attacked an eight-year-old girl at an animal park in Germany. According to preliminary reports, she suffered head injuries. Rescuers rushed to the scene, and a helicopter was also deployed.

The attack happened in an enclosure where the girl was with two other children and one park employee. Police have not yet said which animal attacked her. The park is home to several species of wolves.

German media report that it is unclear why the children were in the enclosure before the official opening time of ten in the morning. The park offers special programmes in which visitors, accompanied by keepers, can visit some of the animals, including wolves. It has not been confirmed whether the girl was part of such a group.

After the incident the park remained closed. Shaken keepers and rescuers were offered psychological support. The circumstances are under investigation.
