Richard Morávek, the entrepreneur who transformed Olomouc, has died

Czech entrepreneur and developer Richard Morávek died early on Thursday morning at the age of 56. In late July he was seriously injured in a car accident in Spain and was taken to a hospital in Olomouc, where he later died. His wife announced his death on Facebook.

Morávek played a key role in transforming Olomouc. His companies were behind the Galerie Šantovka shopping centre, the Šantovka Living residential project and the Envelopa Office Center office complex. Redstone, the group he founded in 2015, is now preparing to build a new district called Nová Velkomoravská.

Today Redstone operates mainly in Prague, Olomouc and Pardubice. The company is building the East Park Olomouc logistics centre and the Galerie Pernerka shopping centre in Pardubice. Further development is also planned around Galerie Šantovka in Olomouc, including a hotel, residential buildings and the Šantovka Tower high-rise.

Morávek's business career began in the early 1990s, when he imported tropical fruit from Thailand. He later moved into real estate, founding Redstone in 2015. Today the group comprises a parent company and twenty-five subsidiaries.
