Black Friday 2026 in Czechia: Dates and How to Check Discounts

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, 27 November, and Cyber Monday on 30 November. Czech shops stretch the sales over weeks, though, and the first "Black Friday" deals start in early November. Since 2023 a discount in Czechia may only be calculated from the lowest price of the previous 30 days, yet inspections show that advertised discounts are still often inflated. Here is how the 30-day rule works, what inspectors and analysts found last year and how to check a discount yourself. Around Prague checked the facts on 29 October 2026.

The 30-day rule: how a discount is calculated by law

Since January 2023, section 12a of the Czech Consumer Protection Act has applied: when a seller announces a discount, it must state the lowest price at which the product was offered and sold in the 30 days before the discount, and calculate the discount from that price. The rule covers both physical shops and online stores, and every form of advertising: price tags, leaflets, shop windows and websites. It closed the old trick of raising prices just before a sale to advertise "up to −90%".

What the Black Friday 2025 checks found

In autumn 2025 ČOI ran a special inspection of sales: 77 checks in physical shops, 20 online stores, and another 19 e-shops (about 380 products) monitored with an EU price-tracking tool. Preliminary results published on 12 January 2026 found:

Hlídač shopů, an independent project that tracks price histories, concluded in its Black Friday 2025 analysis that public coupons were the main problem. Shops lowered prices with a coupon weeks before the sale but left that price out of the 30-day minimum, so the advertised discount looked bigger than the real one. It found discrepancies at Alza (more than 17,000 products), Notino, Mironet and Grizly, among others, while Knihy Dobrovský's advertised discounts matched the price history. The least transparent were the marketplaces Temu, Shein, AliExpress and Trendyol, which calculate discounts from a "recommended" or historical price rather than the 30-day lowest.
