In Karlovy Vary on Saturday morning, city police came to the aid of an 80-year-old woman who was making her way along a four-lane road toward Cheb using a walker. According to the city police press office, the call came in from an observant passer-by shortly before noon.

The patrol that arrived on the scene indeed found the elderly woman confidently making her way along the roadway. “She was moving resolutely down the four-lane road at a ‘slow but steady’ pace. Walkers certainly have plenty of advantages, but they’re not a vehicle — and this one definitely didn’t meet the minimum speed requirement for that stretch of road,” said police spokeswoman Pavlína Masmanidisová.
When asked why she had chosen that particular route, the pensioner explained that the way had been suggested to her by acquaintances she had been visiting. It later emerged that the woman lives in a local residence with a care service.

“The woman was put in a car and safely driven back home,” the police spokeswoman concluded.
