On the evening of 17 October, a group of about eight young men attacked a teenager walking along Peace Avenue (Třída Míru) in Pardubice, punching and kicking him. The assault took place right next to the city police premises, Czech news site Novinky reports. Police are now investigating the incident.
A witness sent a video of the attack to CNN Prima News. It shows the group approaching the victim, who is then hit with fists and feet. According to available information, the victim did not know his attackers. It is unclear whether there was a verbal altercation before the fight.
The author of the video claims this is not the first time this aggressive group has caused trouble. According to him, similar situations keep happening in the city, and the police do not take them seriously. These claims have not been confirmed so far.
The latest incident is under investigation. Pardubice police spokeswoman Dita Holečková said the suspected attackers are under 18 and that the inquiry is at a very early stage, so police are not disclosing details. They provided no further information in response to a query from Novinky either.
