Head-on Collision Near Pohořelice: Two Dead, Four Seriously Injured

A head-on collision between two cars on the road leading from Pohořelice to Znojmo has left two people dead and four others seriously injured. Rescuers classified the incident as a first-degree emergency.

"One person had already died before we arrived. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the second victim, but despite all efforts, they were unable to restore vital functions. The other four injured people suffered serious injuries and were transported by helicopter and ground ambulance to both university hospitals in Brno," said Michaela Botová, spokesperson for the emergency medical service.

Overtaking Blamed for the Crash

According to preliminary information, the cars collided during an overtaking maneuver. Police are now investigating all the circumstances of the accident. A police spokesperson said that drivers who were traveling from Znojmo around 5:00 p.m. and may have noticed how the driver of a black Volvo was driving could help establish the cause of the crash.
