In Stockport, England, a man has pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault of his own wife, whom he drugged without her knowledge. His name is being withheld to protect the victim. According to the prosecution, he brought other men to her and filmed what happened.
Prosecutor Louise Oakley said the husband sexually abused the woman for more than 20 years while she was asleep or unconscious. At first he took advantage of moments when his wife had drunk enough alcohol to fall into a deep sleep. Later, and ever more often, he secretly gave her a cocktail of sedatives, with or without alcohol.
According to the prosecutor, by 2023 at the latest he had begun inviting other men into the home. While his wife lay unconscious in the marital bed, he filmed them raping her. The prosecutor stressed that these were not “unconventional but consensual” practices: this was rape and sexual assault. The woman knew nothing of what was happening until police came to her and told her about the video recordings.
According to the prosecution, nine men took part between 2015 and 2025, when the husband was arrested. Two of them, British media report, were described in court as “hands-off offenders” who incited the abuse online, while another seven came to the couple’s home in Stockport. Last week, four more men also pleaded guilty to abusing the victim.
The case came to light after undercover journalists infiltrated a chat on the Telegram messenger. Police detained the husband and seized his phone. “That phone was like a confessional,” the prosecutor said: it held material spanning decades. According to British media, the prosecution speaks of more than a million photos and videos.
The prosecution also said the defendants led double lives and came to the house at night, taking care that nobody saw or heard them. The case recalls that of Frenchwoman Gisèle Pelicot: her husband drugged her for nine years and let dozens of strangers rape her while filming everything. In 2024 a French court sentenced him to 20 years in prison, the maximum term.
