Prague: Car hits elderly woman, police seek woman seen on video

On Thursday, July 9, at around five in the afternoon, an unknown car struck an 85-year-old woman as she was crossing the road toward the pavement on the opposite side in Prague 4, on V Štíhlách Street. This was reported by police spokeswoman Eva Kropáčová.

According to her, the injured woman suffered visible wounds and was bleeding heavily. A woman got out of the car and accompanied the injured pensioner all the way to her home, spoke with her for a few minutes at the entrance, and then left the scene.

Ambulance called too late

It was only the pensioner's relative, who arrived at her home after the incident, who called an ambulance. At the hospital, doctors found that the 85-year-old woman had not only a laceration and bruises but also fractures of the facial bones.

"Neither medics nor police were called to the scene of the accident. That is why we only began the investigation after the case was reported separately," Kropáčová explained.

Police looking for a witness

Due to the delay, police were unable to identify either the car or the driver behind the wheel at the time of the crash. However, they did manage to obtain CCTV footage showing a woman talking to the victim outside her home.

"She could be a key witness to what happened. We are asking the woman seen in the CCTV footage to come forward. If anyone knows who she is, please report this information by calling 158," the police spokeswoman added. Police are also asking anyone who witnessed the moment the car struck the pedestrian to come forward.
