Actor Michael Gray, who played Captain Marvel in “Shazam!”, has died

American actor Michael Gray died on 16 October in Palm Desert, California. His assistant told the TMZ portal. Gray was best known for playing Billy Batson in the series “Shazam!”.

The Chicago native began acting in the late 1960s. He rose to fame with roles in “The Brian Keith Show”, “Dynasty” and “The Brady Bunch”. In 1974 he was cast as the young Billy Batson, who turns into the hero Captain Marvel after speaking the magic word “Shazam!”. The series was a success in its day, but Gray surprisingly stepped away from acting after it.

Gray later ran a flower shop in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. When he closed it in the early 2000s, he returned to acting and, among other things, voiced a fictional version of himself in the animated hit “Archer”. His last role was a cameo in the blockbuster “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, where he humorously met his successors in the role of the famous hero, Asher Angel and Zachary Levi.
