Czech band Brutus vocalist Ivan Novák dies suddenly at age 30

Ivan Novák, vocalist of Czech band Brutus, dies aged 30

Brutus vocalist Ivan Novák has died at the age of 30, the Czech band has announced. According to the musicians, he passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.

“With heavy hearts, we must share sad news. Suddenly and unexpectedly, we have lost a singer, a friend and a wonderful person with a huge heart… Ivan Iganek Novák. His voice and energy will stay with us and with you forever. Thank you for your support and quiet remembrance,” the band said in a statement.

Novák had been a Brutus fan since he was thirteen, but only joined the band in January this year. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

The band’s history goes back to 1966, when the group Mandragora was formed in Rakovník. It took its current name in 1980. Around fifty musicians have passed through its ranks over the years.
