Czech President Petr Pavel has become a member of the Sports Journalists' Club, having fulfilled all the requirements for admission as a freelance photographer. He was also accepted into the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), club representative Dusík announced.

The organisation has brought together professional sports journalists, reporters, photojournalists and other media professionals since 1923. It safeguards their professional interests and promotes decent working conditions for journalists.

What the President Has Been Photographing

Recently, Pavel has photographed the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race, the MotoGP Czech Grand Prix in Brno, the European Autocross Championship in Nové Město, and the Speedway Grand Prix in Prague.

In late July, after receiving accreditation as a photographer from the international motorsport body FIA, the president attended the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Hungaroring circuit, where he worked alongside Czech sports photographer Jiří Krenek.

The Sports Journalists' Club has around a hundred freelance photographers specialising in sports coverage. Now President Pavel has joined their ranks — meaning that at sporting events he can now appear not only as an honoured guest.
