In the town of Jaroměř in eastern Czechia, a man fell from a bridge over the Elbe River and died. The incident occurred in the Josefov district, on 5. května Street — the main road connecting Jaroměř with the Josefov fortress.
Police received a report of the incident shortly before 6 p.m. When medical teams arrived on the scene, they found the victim showing no signs of life, said Lucie Hanušová, spokesperson for the regional ambulance service. A helicopter and two ambulance crews from Jaroměř were dispatched to the site.
Police spokeswoman Martina Jandová said an investigator was sent to the scene to determine the circumstances and sequence of events. According to her, no further details are available yet, as the victim's family has not been notified — for this reason, police have not disclosed whether the deceased was a man or a woman. Forensic experts have also joined the investigation.
Notably, the town is currently hosting the Brutal Assault festival, which has drawn several thousand visitors.
