Man hits teenager on the head with a beer mug on a bus in Plzeň

Police in Plzeň are searching for witnesses to an attack on a teenager aboard a public bus. The incident actually took place on the evening of April 17, between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., on route No. 30 near the Bolevecké rybníky stop heading toward the Košutka district — but authorities only made it public now.

According to the Plzeň Regional Police, an unfamiliar 30-year-old man carrying a glass beer mug sat down next to a minor passenger. About eight other people were on the bus at the time. The teenager asked the man to move to one of the many empty seats, but he ignored the request, and when asked again, responded only with crude insults.

The fight started over a baseball cap

After the verbal exchange, the teenager knocked the man's cap off. According to police spokeswoman Michaela Reindlová, the suspect then attacked the boy with his fists and struck him on the head with the glass beer mug, shattering his mobile phone in the process.

The injured teenager sought medical treatment and immediately reported the incident to police. Investigators are now working to determine the 30-year-old man's involvement in the attack and are appealing to any witnesses for help. According to the police spokeswoman, anyone who saw the incident can contact their nearest police station or call the emergency hotline.
