Motorcycle collides with bus in Český Krumlov region: fire breaks out, motorcyclist killed

A head-on collision between a motorcycle and a bus occurred in South Bohemia in front of the Braná campsite, after which both vehicles caught fire. According to South Bohemian police spokesman Milan Bajcura, the motorcyclist died at the scene.

The motorcyclist's death was also confirmed by emergency services spokesman Vojtěch Míra: "The motorcyclist sustained injuries incompatible with life." According to him, none of the bus passengers were injured.

Firefighters were on the scene battling the blaze from around half past seven in the evening. According to South Bohemian fire brigade spokesman Vratislav Malý, the impact sparked a fire that began spreading to the nearby forest as well. All seven passengers and the bus driver managed to evacuate the vehicle in time and were unharmed.

According to available information, both the motorcycle and the bus were completely destroyed by fire. Seven fire crews, including volunteer units, took part in extinguishing the blaze. A second-degree fire alert was declared. By 7:30 pm, firefighters had brought the fire — which had spread across an area of thirty by fifty metres — under control.

An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is continuing at the scene.
