Pilař leaves Slavia clash with ten stitches in his head — opponent gets only a yellow card

In a Chance Liga match between Prague rivals Slavia and Bohemians at the Eden Stadium, visiting midfielder Václav Pilař suffered a serious head injury and needed ten stitches after the final whistle. The incident occurred in the second minute of stoppage time.

Slavia's Ange N'Guessan was attempting to control a high ball and, reaching for it with his toe, caught not only the ball but also the head of the onrushing Pilař. Referee Dalibor Černý showed only a yellow card, and his VAR colleagues, Pavel Ochodnický and Ladislav Szikszay, found no grounds to overturn the decision.

Pilař couldn't finish the match

Pilař himself had only come on in the 65th minute, having missed the previous round against Zlín through injury. After the collision with N'Guessan, he was unable to continue. According to Bohemians, who shared the news on social media, the player "took home not just a point from Eden, but also ten stitches" — the post was accompanied by a photo of the already-stitched wound on his head.

The situation felt doubly unfair for Bohemians: just two minutes after the controversial incident, it was N'Guessan himself who found the net. The goal was ultimately disallowed, however, after a video review revealed an offside of 75 centimetres.
