On Friday, a farewell ceremony for the renowned Czech artist and sculptor Milan Knížák was held in the Large Ceremonial Hall of the crematorium in Prague's Strašnice district. Among those who came to pay their last respects were Culture Minister Otto Klempíř of the Motorists for Themselves party and former Czech President Václav Klaus.

Speaking at the ceremony, Klempíř described Knížák as an "uncompromisingly brave" man, saying the artist was never afraid to go against conventional opinion and remained true to his creative and personal principles until the very end.

Milan Knížák was one of the most prominent and controversial figures in Czech art of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, known for his work in actionism as well as his leadership roles in the country's cultural institutions. His passing brought together representatives of the Czech political and cultural elite in Strašnice.
