Halloween at Prague Zoo: animals play with pumpkins and eat them

Halloween at Prague Zoo: pumpkins as both treat and toy

Prague Zoo has launched a four-day programme for the autumn holidays with a Halloween theme. Its centrepiece is treating the animals to pumpkins: 14 species are taking part until Sunday.

The pumpkins are not just a treat. They are also a chance to play and to explore an unfamiliar object. Cheetah and caracal cubs received the gift on Friday for the first time in their lives. The meerkats built themselves a playground out of hollowed-out pumpkins with worms placed inside.
